SAN DIEGO — Today is the court-mandated deadline for the Trump administration to reunite thousands of children and parents it forcibly separated. The American Civil Liberties Union won a nationwide injunction requiring reunification of children under 5 by July 10 and all children by July 26.

Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, said:

“These parents and children have lost valuable time together that can never be replaced. We’re thrilled for the families who are finally reunited, but many more remain separated. The Trump administration is trying to sweep them under the rug by unilaterally picking and choosing who is eligible for reunification. We will continue to hold the government accountable and get these families back together.”

The parties are due back in court tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. PT/4:30 p.m. ET.
