The ACLU has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Department of State and Department of Justice regarding a new Trump administration policy in which the U.S. plans to sanction the International Criminal Court and its staff if the court opens an investigation into allegations of torture committed by U.S. forces in Afghanistan. The ACLU seeks information regarding this policy to provide the American public with information about the Trump administration’s positions concerning the United States’ working relationships with international justice and human rights bodies.
